Oprah Winfrey Settles Defamation Lawsuit

Hawa wameona waelewane tu nyuma ya pazia, i like the sister to sister talk, now they understand each other

The Philadelphia-based defamation suit against Oprah Winfrey by Nomvuyo Mzamane, the former headmistress of the media mogul's girls school in South Africa, was settled on Tuesday.

"The two parties met woman to woman without their lawyers and are happy that they could resolve this dispute peacefully to their mutual satisfaction," according to a statement by attorneys from both sides that was released by Winfrey's Harpo Productions.

In her lawsuit, Mzamane had claimed Winfrey defamed her in remarks made at the time of a 2007 sex-abuse scandal at the school.

Winfrey later testified in a deposition that she "did not intend the implications" placed on her statements, while Mzamane testified she had "no evidence" that Winfrey knowingly made a false statement, the attorneys say.
